Contemporary bedroom colors don’t have to appear mechanical or rigid. The following examples will show you just how varied 21st century bedroom hues can be.

Yellow

Buttery yellow can be used as a neutral alternative to white or beige. This color will evoke emotions of good cheer and is best complemented with other warm colors. Bedding can be white with floral patterns. Throw pillows can have bright patterns or textures. Butter yellow works well with a country style room too.

Gray

Gray isn’t for everyone, but some designers use it in bedrooms that aim for a sophisticated, techno-look. If the walls are gray, add some white trimming. The table or desk should be black with a glass top or metallic finish.

While the color palette is often limited to gray, silver, white and black, the use of glass will add interest. For some variety, use red or blue throw pillows. Blue and silver look good together.

Beige

Beige has been in use for a long time, but it still remains one of the top contemporary bedroom colors. Its main advantage over the others is its flexibility. Beige, tan and similar colors can be paired with virtually any other color scheme.

The hue is also suitable for rooms with wood, metal or glass furniture. If you want a color that will work with different styles, beige is a good choice.

Plum

This is preferred by those who want a glamorous look for their bedroom. By combining plum, deep purple, lavender and other similar shades, a sumptuous mix of colors will be attained.

For the best results, use silk, satin and other smooth fabrics. The wall can have a monotone pattern. Gold trimmings and finishes will add the finishing touches.

Off-Whites

Off-whites are best combined with chocolate brown. This combination will make even large rooms feel cozy. These hues work best with velvet fabrics and cottons. If you are using dark browns for the linen, paint the walls a cream white. The carpets should also be of the same colors.

Romantic Colors

Various shades of pink and red will convey a romantic atmosphere. Adding some chocolate brown and cream white to fabrics will turn it into a more gender neutral room.

These examples just go to show that contemporary bedroom colors don’t have to be all metallic and geometric. There are plenty of options. These designs are also flexible so there’s plenty of room for customizing the design.
